Street sweeping rules change during major holidays in San Francisco.
San Francisco Department of Public Works (DPW) cleans 22nd Avenue regularly to keep the city free of trash. Make sure your vehicle is not parked here during the restricted hours on Wed 2nd & 4th and Thu 1st, 3rd, 5th. Enforcement usually starts strictly around 9. Finding a new parking spot can take 15-20 minutes, so plan ahead.
A $90 sweeping ticket is bad, but getting your car towed is much worse. Many streets connected to 22nd Avenue become 'tow-away zones' during morning and evening commute hours. Always read the whole parking sign. If the sign says 'Tow-Away', your car will be removed immediately.
Sometimes parking signs on 22nd Avenue get painted over or go missing. You are still responsible for knowing the sweeping schedule. You can call 311 to report broken signs. Also, remember SF's 72-hour rule: you cannot leave your car in the exact same spot for more than 3 days, even if there is no street cleaning.
