Street sweeping rules change during major holidays in San Francisco.
Parking in San Francisco can be tricky. If you park on Allison Street, you must move your car on Tuesday and Friday before the sweeper arrives. SFMTA parking officers are very strict. Even if the street sweeper has already passed, you cannot park there until the restricted time (usually ending around 9) is completely over.
A street sweeping ticket in San Francisco is very expensive, usually costing over $90. To avoid this, always check the red and white signs on Allison Street. If you are parking overnight, set an alarm on your phone so you remember to move your car early in the morning.
San Francisco is famous for its steep hills. If Allison Street has a slope, you must 'curb your wheels' (turn your tires toward the sidewalk). If you forget to do this, SFMTA can give you a separate ticket, even if you followed the street cleaning schedule.
