Street sweeping rules change during major holidays in San Francisco.
Finding parking on Ford Street means paying close attention to the rules. The city's mechanical sweepers clean this block on Monday and Thursday. You must keep the curb clear until 9. Many locals park a few blocks away the night before to avoid the early morning rush.
Besides street cleaning, check if Ford Street requires a Residential Parking Permit (RPP). If you don't have a neighborhood permit sticker, you might only be allowed to park for 2 hours. If you are at a parking meter, make sure you pay through the official PayByPhone app or at the machine.
Always check the color of the curb before you leave your car. Red means no parking ever (fire lanes). White is for 5-minute passenger loading, and Yellow is for commercial vehicles. A ticket for blocking a red zone is much more expensive than a regular street sweeping fine.
A.No. San Francisco usually sweeps one side of the street on one day, and the opposite side on another day, so you have a place to move your car.
A.If there are RPP signs (like Area 'A' or 'Z'), you can only park for 2 hours without a permit. Street cleaning rules still apply to everyone.
A.If your car is missing, do not panic. Call SFMTA or look up their 'Find My Towed Vehicle' website to see if it was towed for a violation.
