Finding parking on Octavia Street means paying close attention to the rules. The city's mechanical sweepers clean this block on Monday and Friday. You must keep the curb clear until 9. Many locals park a few blocks away the night before to avoid the early morning rush.
Besides street cleaning, check if Octavia Street requires a Residential Parking Permit (RPP). If you don't have a neighborhood permit sticker, you might only be allowed to park for 2 hours. If you are at a parking meter, make sure you pay through the official PayByPhone app or at the machine.
Always check the color of the curb before you leave your car. Red means no parking ever (fire lanes). White is for 5-minute passenger loading, and Yellow is for commercial vehicles. A ticket for blocking a red zone is much more expensive than a regular street sweeping fine.
