Street sweeping rules change during major holidays in San Francisco.
Parking in San Francisco can be tricky. If you park on Portola Drive, you must move your car on Tue 1st, 3rd, 5th and Wed 2nd & 4th before the sweeper arrives. SFMTA parking officers are very strict. Even if the street sweeper has already passed, you cannot park there until the restricted time (usually ending around 7) is completely over.
A street sweeping ticket in San Francisco is very expensive, usually costing over $90. To avoid this, always check the red and white signs on Portola Drive. If you are parking overnight, set an alarm on your phone so you remember to move your car early in the morning.
