Finding parking on Sutter Street means paying close attention to the rules. The city's mechanical sweepers clean this block on Thu 1st & 3rd and Tue 1st & 3rd. You must keep the curb clear until 12. Many locals park a few blocks away the night before to avoid the early morning rush.
Besides street cleaning, check if Sutter Street requires a Residential Parking Permit (RPP). If you don't have a neighborhood permit sticker, you might only be allowed to park for 2 hours. If you are at a parking meter, make sure you pay through the official PayByPhone app or at the machine.
